4/9/24 Matt Santos gets a 5 star rating from me for the maintenance check he did on my HVAC system. He arrived on time and was efficient and pleasant and professional. He summarized what he did and what he found. The prices are competitive at Stan's HVAC. They are my only company for HVAC A/C and heating services. I've been using them for approximately four years. I recommend Matt Santos as a knowledgeable technician. I recommend Stan's for. HVAC maintenance and HVAC problems.

Thank you for trusting Stan's with your HVAC and plumbing needs! We look forward to serving you in the future.
Apr 21, 2023Previous reviewApril 20 and 21, 2023. If I could give twenty excellent stars to Luis Nuñez, I would. He has tirelessly worked and discussed this ac problem with his field manager at Stan's and virtual tech support for this brand, model, and serial number ac. It was installed in 2018 by a different company ie not by Stan's. Luis knows this system and arrived to work on it again today although not scheduled for south Austin. Identified the issue. I highly recommend Stan's ... always stands by its work and will work until issued identified and resolved. I think Luis Nuñez deserves absolutely high commendation for his expertise, tireless work, professionalism and super interpersonal skills and customer education.
April 20, 2023. Five stars excellent to Kevin Borseth who evaluated this HVAC system because I had expressed interest in a brand new HVAC system from Stan's since my current 2018 HVAC system bought and installed from a different company continues yo have failing warrantied machinery that should not be failing. He did hard work and will continue to research at his office Re failures with this particular brand, serial number. He gave me an honest opinion and did not try in the least to sell me a new part or new system. I recommend Stan's again for the honesty, hard work, and expertise of employees at Stan's Re HVAC systems ... the only department I've needed to use. I recommend Kevin Borseth as well if thinking about a new HVAC system from Stan's. Thank you Stan's!!
Stan's stands by its work .... Absolutely every time! Have used this business for at least two yearsOct 3, 2022Previous reviewJaedyn and Carlos replaced the evaporator coil on indoor part of HVAC system 9/26/22. They did work that I'm exceptionally pleased with. They were also very professional; personable; subject matter experts; on time; called me first ... because the automated call sometimes arrives after tech is already here; gave me a plastic packet with invoice, information about coil, a checklist showing what was done during service call. They answered my questions and did customer education that I understood. They were dressed professionally ...all of Stan's staff members have been.
Jaedyn and Carlos also installed new pipes on HVAC indoor unit. This installation is professional and absolutely better than and more efficient than the original installation by another company's crew in August 2018. This current installation has a necessary downward slope on a condensate pipe and pipes are positioned in a way that make it easy for me to regularly pour vinegar to decrease risk of slime buildup in condensate line. As an aside, the previous same company recommended I pour bleach to help prevent slime buildup. Thank goodness Stan's tech indicated vinegar will do same without possible damage to pvc pipes as bleach may have done.
I highly recommend these two technicians as well as Stan's HVAC. It is my experience that Stan's stands by their work and will return until the problem is fixed. I recommend Stan's HVAC. Stan's has installed new ductwork and insulation in attic Jan/Feb 2022. A different company installed new central HVAC system August 2018. I had three different problems with it all summer and Stan's Mickey Crandall (Field Manager) and Luis Nuñez (Senior Technician) identified all three and fixed them. Al's they are personable and professional as well as knowledgeable. They did customer education that I understood and answered my questions. The last problem needed installation of evaporator coil done by different department. The techs were Jaedyn and Carlos. Please see beginning of this review regarding their superb work. All four people experts I've mentioned here deserve more than five stars and even better than excellent .... I trust the work they do!Jan 22, 2022Previous reviewStan's did reliable and professional ductwork replacement January 2022. The cost was competitive and they stand by their work. Stan's is on the city's Star Energy program. A knowledgeable and professional central heater quickly solved a heating problem yesterday. I'll be having all HVAC and plumbing services from Stan's from now on. I'm moving from a plumbing company I've used since 2010 and from an HVAC company I've used for over 8 years. Stan's provides whole house expert service. Thank you Stan's HVAC, Insulation and Plumbing

In short: We experienced a stressful repair with a junior technician. I was led to believe the only option was to dive into an expensive repair with drywall, tile, and other next steps until I asked for a senior plumber who fixed the issue in minutes.
If you go with this company for plumbing, I recommend thinking critically about the solutions you're provided, especially if you have an older home.
After some persistence I was able to speak with the plumbing GM and he was nice enough to chat with me about my experience. I appreciate him taking the time to hear me out and I hope the plumbers I saw have learned a valuable lesson not to make things up when they're unsure of what to do next.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 15, 2024
Called in on their emergency line last night for a burst pipe, they called me back after almost 2 hours letting me know there wasn't anything they could do that night. That's fine, I get it, I had a big job ahead. They promised a callback the next morning, early, to schedule me in for the day. Well, they never called. Simple as that, if you don't want my business, no worries.

We have had maintenance contracts on our A/C & Heating for 4 years in this house. Service techs polite and seemed competent. This year the young man said we had a "freon" problem and needed a new A/C. This bothered us as no prior mention had been made of any problems. We called a second company and their report listed many failing components. The young Stan's man was right but it bothered us that none of these failing components were mentioned in prior inspections and do not normally degrade in one season. Very significant rust issues, leaking oil, holes in plenum, uneven foundation slab etc. have been around for some time. Ask your tech to show you their "readings" on a yearly basic and compare to "normal" We wished we had done that. It is a shame we pay for only what we want to hear.
We will be seeking bids from other companies for a new system and checking work under warranty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The homeowner purchased a house which had gone through inspection etc, and shortly after, new tenants moved in. Inspection report from the purchase showed a 3 year old working tankless water heater without issues. The tenants complained that while they had hot water, it was not hot enough. The winter storm was coming soon so I as the property manager called Stan for a checkup. Stan's plumber verbally convinced my tenants that the 3 year old water heater had been incorrectly and dangerously installed, emitting enough carbon monoxide that poses immediate harm. The plumber suggested a full replacement because it was not worth the money to fix/reinstall. Stan's plumber did not flush the system, nor run diagnostics on the unit, because he conveyed that the unit was so dangerous they would not touch it. This scared my tenants. Upon hearing this, the fearful tenants and landlord at this point fearing the storm coming, we collectively agreed to replacement on the spot even though I found the replacement price tag to be exorbitant at over $4000. After replacement I looked up the exact model, it was a traditional, not tankless, GE RealMax Platinum 40 gallon water heater and it would only retail at less than $800 at Sears. I was charged $3,722.00 for this $800 unit, and the labor cost was $616. After installation was completed and tenants settled, I reached out to Stan. They had all the proof of my "agreements" on the phone recorded, and would not address why the water heater itself was priced at almost 5 times that of retail. The VP Brian Cardwell exchanged emails with me stating that since I had agreed for the replacement there is nothing they can do, and the dispute went in circles. I refused to pay the invoice until dispute was settled, yet Stan took the liberty to charge my card the entire amount. I contacted BBB, and the credit card company to request Stan to split the cost for a $2000 refund. For installing a new $800 heater plus $616 labor, totaling less than $1500, I believe splitting the cost even at $2000 would be more than fair. Stan turned in all call logsto BBB and my credit card showing that I had agreed to everything, therefore case is closed. As a property manager of many units around Austin, I do not have the desire to relentlessly chase after a refund, but I do not want atx homeowners to be coerced into replace a unit when it can easily be repaired. Stan claims that the "reinstallation" cost of my working water heater would come in at a few thousand dollars as well. Yet this was unfounded since a diagnostics on the original tankless was never ran. I have never seen such deceptive price hike. I will never use Stan again for their unscrupulous pricing structure. Side story, the employee that came to install also told my tenant that the closet is out of code which will not pass inspection when the inspector would come, and called his friend to come out for an extra $600 to patch up the closet and demanded I venmo him right away. I would stay away from Stan.

Service and instillation good, but beware of the large rebate promise. When buying the unit, the rebate was taken into consideration for final price. I never received the rebate. After numerous calls and emails and no one ever getting back to me, had to call the rebate a loss.

AVOID STAN'S AT ALL COSTS
They have installed 4 systems for me, but when something goes wrong? Management and owners STICK THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND, NO care for their customers, no contact, while liability and bills pile up... do NOT do business with these uncaring people.
HOUSE FLOODED -- electrical blown out including water heater because they switched a circuit to 220v unwisely -- but it's the MOLD, THE FLOODED system that they installed, and no matter who I talk to a the tech or dispatch level, NOBODY upstairs will call me. EIGHT messages left. These owners and management, despite great folks, care NOTHING about their customers or the disasters they are causing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE UNCARING PEOPLE. They have made my house unlivable and I can't even get a call from management. Stan's owners & management should be *ashamed.* P.S. There is still all sorts of water in my house and the latest person who cares is trying... WHERE ARE YOU OWNERSHIP??? *This* is how you respond to customer catastrophes of your own making??? This picture, if this is what you want... call Stan's.Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1 - Audrey S.Austin, TX04Apr 23, 2024
Stan's installed a new HVAC for me 5+ weeks ago and it has had a smell ever since. There was an error in the installation that had to be resolved on day 3 as well, and they brought the wrong size return air grille which I was told I will now have to wait months for. I've called multiple times a week since the unit has been smelling, had 3 different technicians out, and there is zero sense of any interest from Stan's to resolve the issue. I've left unreturned messages for multiple individuals over the last several weeks. Someone was supposed to come out today and they no-showed the appointment. I called the office and spoke to someone, the technician then called with no apology. Stan's is perfect for you if you like abysmal customer service and like having to call multiple times a week to resolve issues on a unit you paid over $10k for.

While I appreciate the need to have every component of my system replaced to prevent problems, the line item pricing in the quote I was provided from Stans was just not reasonable. The honeywell zone board I was quoted was over $1800. The company I went with to replace my system ended up recommending the same honeywell zone board but charged $460. I got the same Carrier system that Stans quoted me, a new zone board, an additional air duct in one of the bedrooms, an ApcoX pollen filter with a 2 year labor warranty for $7k cheaper. I know Stans does a lot of good work in the Capital area but the mark ups are just too much.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent experience with Stan's. We appreciate your detailed account of the services you received, and we want to address your concerns in a transparent manner.
Regarding the HVAC estimate, we want to clarify our position on the recommended replacement of the zone board and dampers. Our policy is to recommend a complete replacement of the unit and the damper system to ensure a consistent and comprehensive warranty coverage. While your current dampers may be only two years old, our experience has shown that reusing older components can sometimes lead to warranty issues. Once we touch a job, we assume responsibility for the entire system, and we want to avoid potential complications or disputes down the road.
We've encountered situations where seemingly newer dampers and boards failed after we performed other services. In such cases, customers have approached us with issues, and replacing these components became necessary. To maintain the integrity of the system and to provide you with the best long-term value, we recommend replacing the zone board and dampers.
We understand that cost is a significant factor in decision-making, and we sincerely apologize if our estimate did not align with your expectations. We value your feedback, and it helps us continually improve our services.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and thank you for considering Stan's for your home services needs.
Thank you,
Michelle E.

512.539.4508Dec 8, 2023Previous reviewStans had a promotion for a $99 water heater flush I wanted to take advantage of. I also had a new kitchen faucet I needed installed. I was in the market for a new HVAC system so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. I scheduled the plumber and HVAC estimate for the same day. Plumber shows up first and performs the water heater flush. He did a thorough job but quoted over $420 to install the kitchen faucet. That didn't seem reasonable so I thanked him and he went on his way.
HVAC guy shows up and takes a look at my current system and my attic. He quoted me a 2 stage 5 ton Carrier unit but said I needed a new zone board and recommended new dampers (even though my current dampers were only 2 years old). He said using my old dampers was a "gamble" with a new system. Total estimate with promotional pricing was over $17k. I had 4 other companies provide bids for the HVAC replacement, and Stans was the only one that said I needed a new zone board and dampers. The estimate was way over the top and it seemed like they were trying to max their profit so I had to pass.
Overall, the company was easy to work with, quick to respond and the techs who showed up were professional but Stan's is just too expensive to consider for future needs. I contacted another plumber to quote the kitchen faucet install and they charged half the price.
