I believe my old AC unit was the one that was installed when the house was built in 1980. As you can imagine, the old unit was clunky, loud, and unreliable. I wanted to have it replaced before the summer heat was at its worst. Marianna came out and walked through the different units they could install and went over the cost and benefits for each unit. There was no hard sell. I was left with information to read over so I could make an informed decision. I loved that there was no hard sell. I contacted BlueAir the next day with my decision and my job was scheduled for the following week.
The BlueAir team showed up on time (and wearing masks) to install my new air conditioning system. They were kind, courteous, and worked quickly to get the job done. I appreciate that they took the time to go over the new unit with me and answered all of my questions.
I couldn't be happier. My house is cool, less humid, and I have found a company to work with that I trust. I will definitely refer them to others. Thanks for the job well done!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marti O.Austin, TX0276Apr 1, 2023
We purchased our 2 stage system 3-4 years ago. Service was great & install was quick. Since that time, we've had them out repeatedly for the same issue (blown fuses & capacitors), & even purchased the maintenance program so we could get priority appointments because it was happening every few months. In Texas you can't really afford to be without a/c for long. Well, it happened again & our program had expired, so we called a different company. It turns out that when the system was installed it was wired for a 1 stage system instead of a 2 stage, so the control board wasn't functioning properly & blowing fuses & capacitors. For this, I can't say I'd recommend Blue Ribbon. Also, when we called (not knowing our program had expired), we received super high pressure & were told that they could give us a tentative appointment with no guarantee they'd be able to make it unless we renewed, otherwise it would be at least 4-5 days until they could get to us.

The Good:
:: they are a local business!
:: they are very diligent about wearing masks during these pandemic times
:: they are really good about diagnosing issues. another company i was using was always giving me the worst-case scenario diagnosis and before i wanted to commit to spending so much money, i wanted to get a second opinion. i used BlueAir for the second opinions on the diagnoses and estimates from the other company and found that BlueAir was giving me options that were far less expensive and far more reasonable. eg, the other company told me i needed to replace my entire HVAC, which is $8-12K. BlueAir told me i just needed to replace the evaporator coil, which ended up only $1500. just one example of several that made me switch all my needs to BlueAir
:: they do not try to upsell. they are very honest people who give you options and let you choose what you want to do
The Bad:
:: none
The Ugly:
:: none
Would I use this service provider again? Absolutely. They are now my trusted source for AC/heater needs.

I drive by their place of business at least twice a week and noticed several weeks ago their sign was down and the dog mailbox was gone.
Finally called them up and found that, according to the phone receptionist, they had sold out to a new company called Blue Ribbon Cooling & Heating, which if it is the same as the one listed here on Yelp has a 5-star reputation. Time will tell.
The receptionist did state that they would be continuing the Blue Air name.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

You literally made our day!! A/C work isn't very glamorous so making our customers comfortable and satisfied is the best part!!! Thanks for your review.
Nov 29, 2015Previous reviewI've employed their services ever since we moved into our house 20 yrs ago and have NEVER had reason to regret it. When I needed a major repair and had cash flow issues, they worked with me and never gave me a hassle about it. Some of their techs have come and gone over the years but BlueAir is still there, still supporting their customers. Their honest, dependable, reliable, be there when they say they will be, and don't gouge the customer. They're like the best friend that comes and bails you out of trouble without giving you any grief about it.

It's so refreshing to work with a company that doesn't always push for the repair that is best for their bottom line!
We discovered BlueAir when our AC unit died at our old house in 2017. The first company we called (also highly rated) pushed for an extremely high-end unit at over $10,000. We brought BlueAir in for a second quote. Rather than simply recommending the most expensive option, they explained that, given the layout and small size of the house (~1600 sqft), we'd see comparable performance and electric bill savings with a unit 1/5 the price. We are now in a new, larger home with two units but we continue to use BlueAir for all of our HVAC issues and have never been let down. Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeffrey R.Austin, TX033Jan 22, 2020
Our A/C stopped working in January. BlueAir was very responsive and came out the same day and diagnosed the problem (compressor went out). The technician who came out was very friendly and kindly humored all of my many questions about the A/C unit, the pros and cons of whether to replace the compressor or replace the condenser, and questions about proper hvac maintenance. I kept the poor guy for almost an hour with questions.
Later BlueAir followed up with 2 quotes for repairing or replacing the entire condenser and weren't pushy about which to go with and left it up to me to decide. I'm used to places trying to up sell me or convince me to spend more money, but Blue Air was not salesy at all.
I opted to replace the condenser since the old one was 10 years old anyway. They came out the next business day and installed the new unit. The guys were professional and I was happy with the install. I was particularly happy with how they tidied up the electrical lines from the house and installed a proper electrical box (the previous unit had been installed in an odd way that I'm fairly certain was not up to code).
After the install they walked me through the new unit and the warranty and only casually mentioned their maintenance plan, but didn't push it.
Overall I'm very pleased with BlueAir's service and I highly recommend them. Fair pricing, not pushy, friendly, and knowledgable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelli F.San Francisco, CA03Sep 6, 2022
if I could do less than one star, I would. we are now dealing with a mold issue in our home after Blue Ribbon installed a new HVAC system. they denied responsibility, practice gaslighting, and were incredibly dishonest. I would never ever recommend this company.

I woke up this morning to a broken A/C. BlueAir was able to come this morning, diagnose the problem, and fix the problem. After replacing a capacitor to correct the problem, they also verified that the system was working correctly by measuring the temperature drop in the air handler and whether the refrigerant pressure was correct. I had them add refrigerant, and my system is working great now. The technicians seemed honest and knowledgeable.

Do not use this company for your ac service needs. I used them to replace a unit and service another unit. During the service of the unit the technician rerouted my drain line. After all that was said and done the unit started leaking. It caused damage to our property and the technician could not figure out what the problem was. After telling them multiple times what the problem was they ignored it and blamed it on something else to go around there mistakes. This has a been going on for over a year and dealing with them and now they don't wanna take responsibility for there own actions. I am now seeking legally help to get my money back for property damage caused by there company.

Jesse, I am sorry that we were unable to come to an agreement over exactly what happened. As I stated after our multiple communications through the Better Business Bureau, I do not believe we were responsible for any damage that occurred. Many months went by between the original call and the callback. I think saying we rerouted the drain line is overstating the minor adjustment we made. In our opinion a new drain line is needed to address the issue. Marianna
