About us
Keeping Texas Green Since 1975! Clayton Whittlesey and his two older brothers founded Whittlesey Landscape Supplies in 1974, as a landscaping and lawn maintenance operation. They expanded their yard in 1979, turning it into a full-service landscape supply yard, the first of its kind in the area to handle special mixes, garden soils, rock, stone, gravel and compost. By 1985, Clayton became the sole owner and the company continued specializing in mulch and custom-blended soil mixtures as well as composts and gravels. While some methods of acquiring materials had always been efficient for the company, Whittlesey realized the opportunity to take in green waste to produce mulch and compost for his customers was a win-win situation. With a second location in Round Rock, TX the company expanded again in the 1990s. Today, Whittlesey Landscape Supplies & Recycling makes many varieties of mulches, compost and soil blends, while also making specialty soils to spec for individual customers. Whittlesey also owns a fleet of trucks from end dumps to floats to haul its specialty landscape materials and bagged materials. Manufacturing and having its own fleet of trucks ensures Whittlesey's ability to give its customers the great service, consistency, quality and reliability that they have come to know and trust. With such a wide-ranging list of product offerings and an efficient fleet of equipment, Whittlesey Landscape Supplies & Recycling and their staff continue to serve a large variety of customers in and around Austin and Central Texas.

I gained “cool points” with my boys when I sent them a video of me driving the Windrow Turner! Thanks to Blake Whittlesey and Dakota Smith for showing me the ropes on creating mulch, soil, and composte - and giving me the opportunity to aerate composte. Whittlesey Landscape Supplies & Recycling, Inc has been a great addition to SiteOne Landscape Supply. I look forward to continued growth and integration. LinkedIn won’t let me post videos and pictures, so pics in the comments.

We want to congratulate our December R.O.C.Kstar of the month, Heather Whitaker! She has been with the company for a little over 2 years. She started as a yard supervisor at our Round Rock location and now works in our Inventory department. Heather is such a joy to work with and is always willing to be a helping hand. We are lucky to have her on board. #rockstarofthemonth #reliable #outstanding #committed #knowledgeable #employeerecognition

One of the oldest boy scout troops in the United States, Troop 5 was founded in 1911 and today they have over 100 members. For the past 8 years we have had the opportunity to work with them on their mulch fundraiser! Our account manager Marco Ortega was able to help them with their delivery of 107 full Pallets- that's 6,420 bags of Mulch! This is a great cause that we are happy to be apart of every year!

Have you ever looked at a retaining wall and thought about what goes into building it other than the limestone? Our commercial account manager Rogelio Molina was able to help Gray Brook Construction with the back end of their Whisper Valley Retaining Wall Project. By mixing our pea gravel with existing dirt they were able to promote drainage and prevent water build up, and the roundness of the pea gravel also helps build a stable base reducing soil erosion to ensure long lasting stability.
